October 21, 2008 - Business Opportunities in Canada - A distinguished panel featured Margaret Lange, Consul and Trade Commissioner of the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo; Yves Gignac, Representative of the Empire State Development Corp. in Montreal; David Guilzion, National Sales Manager of Hannay Reels and Tony Sirco of Radiant Pools. The panel discussed how area companies can get started or enhance their current sales with Canada -- New York's largest trading partner.


August 21, 2008 - Export Compliance Training - Trade consultant Richard Allocca of Alloca Enterprises provided an 11-point checklist to guide exporters on ensuring full compliance on the ever-changing security requirements.


June 17, 2008 - Trivia Night - Join the Capital Region Tech Valley Global Business Network (TVGBN) for an informal evening of fun, food and global trivia at Aperitivo. Network with businesses from around the Capital Region while growing your knowledge of global trivia.

November 15, 2007 - Excellence in International Business Awards "Globie" Dinner: Our 14th annual recognition of companies making a real difference in building Capital Region's international business.

 

The Capital Region Global Business Network recognized six "Globie" award winners at the organization's annual dinner event at the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia on November 15, 2007.

Before an audience of 200 area business people, GBN recognized each of the six companies with the Globie world statuette for their roles in enhancing and promoting international trade in the Capital Region. Each award winner was featured in a brief video highlighting the company and its international reach. The 2007 winners were:

  • Gurley Precision Instruments, Manufacturer of the Year  [video
  • Adirondack Speciality Adhesives, Small Manufacturer of the year [video]
  • American Bio Medica Corporation, New to Export Award [video
  • MSE Power Systems, Exporter of Services Award [video]
  • Mohawk Global Logistics, Trade Partner of the Year [video]
  • Ralph Bocchino, HSBC, Global Vision Award [video]

Walt Borisenok, president of Fortitech Inc., an accomplished Schenectady-based company that produces fortified ingredients for the global food and pharmaceuticals industries, was the keynote speaker. Wally Altes, host of WMHT's "The BottomLine" business program was the evening's emcee. GBN President Bill Berezansky gave the opening remarks that featured the state of international business in the Capital Region and a video presentation of the membership organization.
